Rest Your Head
Music and lyrics by J Stephen Roberts
I used to wake before the sunrise
But these days I seem to let the time just slide by
But that's time
And everyday is filled up to spilling the brim
But abruptly I thought of you
No gain in dread
You rest your head
I used to know my older sister
But I think when someone leaves you've just got memories
And you know
How somebody old always says to take it all slow
Well too bad that we kids never learn
Someone once said
You rest your head
And that's why today I'm stopping to walk out in the rain
The yellow grass like light across the plain
And I'm just kind of thinking of when
We'd walk here all around
Way back when you still lived in the south
I hear the birds until the morning
Sometimes there are things that keep me from sleeping
Like when it's late in the night
Then I hear a car pulling up
I get up and notice it's you
Go back to bed
I rest my head
